Kruskals algorithm is a greedy algorithm used in graph theory. It finds a minimum spanning tree for an undirected edge-weighted graph or a connected graph. It is a highly sequential algorithm, and it is also difficult to parallelize.
It’s based on a greedy approach
Kruskal’s algorithm is a greedy algorithm that is used to find the minimum spanning tree (MST) of a graph. The minimum spanning tree is the shortest path that a graph has. It includes all vertices and edges of a graph.
In the greedy approach, a set of choices is made, based on limited short-term criteria. The choices are made in sequence. As a result, the greedy algorithm always makes the best choice at the current moment. Although the greedy approach is not always applicable to all problems, it is an intuitive and natural way of approaching the problem.
In the greedy approach, if two vertices are not part of the same cluster, they will not form a cycle, and thus they do not need to be connected. This allows the greedy algorithm to solve a number of problems without violating any MST properties. For example, it can solve the problem of all pair shortest path.

The best thing about a spanning tree is that it isn’t a very good candidate for parallelization. Adding new edges is a costly exercise in both time and effort. There’s also the enviable task of traversing all of the vertices, a feat which is hardly practical in practice. In addition, there are no obvious ways to accelerate the process.
Kruskal’s algorithm is not for the faint of heart. Its complexities, which are largely related to the amount of information it needs to process, makes it impossible to parallelize. Similarly, the best performance can only be achieved by leveraging the transactional memory of a multi-core CPU system with a large number of cores. To top it off, the underlying algorithms themselves are quite difficult to debug. For example, a plethora of bugs can make it impossible to verify that the requisite changes have been made. Moreover, there’s no way to guarantee that the correct number of new edges has been added. In addition, the process is a bit clunky, especially for larger graphs. For a number of reasons, this is a major deterrent to building a scalable and robust graph database.
The best way to make up for the shortcomings of the brute force approach is to implement a more elegant parallelized version of the algorithm. To do this, we use the MST (mozilla) protocol, which allows us to implement the algorithm in a more uniform fashion. The algorithm is essentially split into two parts: a build-tree and a kd-tree. The former is used to create a kd-tree of all of the points in the graph. The latter is used to find the minimal number of appropriate edges to add to each key edge. The MST is not a particularly nifty implementation, but it does the trick.
In terms of performance, it takes all 48 of the cores on the CPU to get the job done. That said, the MST algorithm is only useful on a large cluster of servers. However, it may be possible to implement the algorithm on a desktop PC, using a slew of high-speed CPUs with hyper-threading. This may be a good first step towards making it more widely available. Ideally, the whole process would be facilitated by a hypervisor. If we could do that, we’d be well on our way to the next generation of scalable and robust graph databases. Alternatively, we could consider implementing the algorithm on a distributed cloud computing infrastructure, a model which has a lot of appeal. The benefits of scalability and flexibility in large-scale graph computations are obvious, but the cost of maintaining the required parallelism can be prohibitive. Hence, a scalable and viable solution to this problem is a longtime coming.
Kruskals algorithm produces a spanning tree
In 1956, Joseph Bernard Kruskal Jr. devised a greedy algorithm for finding a minimum spanning tree. The algorithm is a sequential program that treats each node of a graph as a separate tree. As a result, the algorithm aims to provide the best possible global solution. It has a time complexity of O(logE) and can be implemented in C++. The resulting spanning tree will have minimal cost and a number of verticies corresponding to the number of edges in the graph.
The spanning tree is the smallest tree that contains all the vertices of a weighted undirected graph. In other words, it is the shortest path between two vertices of the graph. The algorithm can also be used to lay down electrical wiring among cities, or to connect LANs.
